Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 26, 2026
This policy explains what BiLT collects, why, and what we do with it. We've tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].
Who we are
BiLT is a fitness tracking app developed by an independent developer ("BiLT," "we," "us"). The app is available on iOS and Android. For any privacy matter, contact us at [email protected].
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address (via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple) and a display name you choose. We do not collect or store passwords — authentication is handled by Google or Apple.
Fitness and health data you enter
BiLT stores the training, cardio, body, and nutrition data you log in the app. This includes workouts, sets and reps, cardio sessions, body measurements, food entries, photos you choose to attach, and any notes or preferences you set.
Apple Health data (iOS, if you opt in)
If you enable Apple Health integration, BiLT reads the following from Apple HealthKit. This access is read-only — BiLT never writes to Apple Health:
- Workouts (type, duration, start/end time)
- Heart rate samples during your workouts
- Active energy burned
- Walking, running, and cycling distance
- Body weight
- Body fat percentage
- Sleep
- Steps
When you first connect, BiLT reads up to the last 90 days of this data so your history is complete from the start; after that it reads only new data. It is used to import your cardio sessions and to show your body and activity trends inside the app. BiLT does not sell HealthKit data, use it for advertising, share it with data brokers, or use it for any purpose other than the features you've requested. You can disable Apple Health integration at any time in BiLT's settings, and you can revoke BiLT's HealthKit permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Health Connect data (Android, if you opt in)
If you enable Health Connect integration on Android, BiLT reads the following from Google Health Connect. This access is read-only — BiLT never writes to Health Connect:
- Exercise sessions / workouts (type, duration, start/end time)
- Heart rate samples during your workouts
- Active calories burned
- Distance
- Body weight
- Body fat percentage
- Sleep
- Steps
When you first connect, BiLT reads up to the last 90 days of this data so your history is complete from the start. Reading entries older than 30 days uses Health Connect's historical-data permission (READ_HEALTH_DATA_HISTORY); after the first import, BiLT reads only new data. It is used to import your cardio sessions and to show your body and activity trends inside the app. This data is used only to provide the features you've requested and is never sold, used for advertising, or shared with third parties. You can disable Health Connect integration at any time in BiLT's settings, and you can revoke BiLT's access at any time in the Health Connect app (Settings → Security & privacy → Health Connect, or Health Connect → App permissions).
Device and diagnostic information
When you submit feedback or a bug report, we collect basic device information (device model, OS version, BiLT version) and any screenshot or description you choose to attach. This helps us reproduce and fix issues.
What we don't collect
- We don't collect your location.
- We don't collect your contacts, calendar, photos (other than ones you explicitly attach), or anything else outside the app.
- We don't use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or marketing trackers. (We do keep our own anonymous, aggregated usage statistics that are never tied to you — see "What we do with your data" below.)
- We don't collect data about how you use other apps.
How your data is stored
Your data is stored locally on your device and synced to Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), operated by Google, using your authenticated account. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Firebase security rules tie your training, nutrition, and health logs to your authenticated account, so other users of the app cannot read them.
Who can access your data: you, through your authenticated account; we, the developer, where it is necessary to operate the service, provide support, or act on a request from you (for example, exporting or deleting your data) — administrative access bypasses the per-user security rules, so we limit its use to these purposes; and Google, as the infrastructure provider that processes the data on our behalf. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
What we do with your data
- Provide the app. Storing, syncing, and displaying your training and nutrition data is the core function.
- Improve the app. Bug reports and crash diagnostics help us fix problems.
- Understand how Bilt is used (anonymous and grouped only). We keep anonymous, aggregated statistics about how the app is used — for example how often a feature is opened — broken down by broad traits such as age range, sex, and fitness goal. These are grouped counts only: they are never tied to your name, email, or account, and we cannot trace them back to you. Exact figures like your weight are placed into wide ranges, and very small groups are hidden so no individual can be singled out. We use these statistics to understand who Bilt helps, to improve the app, and to guide how we describe and market it.
- What we never do. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't share it with data brokers. We don't build an advertising or marketing profile tied to you as an individual, and we never target you personally based on your health data.
Legal basis for processing (EEA / UK users)
If you are in the EEA or UK, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). Creating your account and storing, syncing, and displaying the training and nutrition data you log is necessary to provide the app you asked for.
- Explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a)). Health and fitness data — including workouts, body measurements, body-fat percentage, sleep, and nutrition — is "special category" data. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give by entering it in the app or by enabling Apple Health / Health Connect, and which you can withdraw at any time in Settings or by deleting your account.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). We use limited diagnostic and crash data to keep the app working and secure. You can object to this at any time.
- Anonymous statistics. The aggregated usage statistics described above are not personal data — they are grouped counts that cannot be linked back to you — so they fall outside these restrictions. We derive them from data you have already consented to us holding, and we keep only the anonymous totals, not a per-person record of how you use the app.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before then.
AI features
Some BiLT features (such as nutrition lookups and meal photo analysis) send your text or photo input to Anthropic's Claude API via a proxy we operate. These requests are routed through our infrastructure so that no API keys are stored on your device. Anthropic processes the input to generate the response and does not retain it for training. We don't store the AI responses on our servers beyond what's needed to display them back to you and save them in your BiLT account. These features produce suggestions and information only; they do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Where your data is processed (international transfers)
Our processors — Google (Firebase) and Anthropic (the AI provider) — are based in the United States, so your personal data is transferred to and processed in the US. For users in the EEA or UK, we rely on the EU-US / UK Data Privacy Framework where the processor is certified, and on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum) as a safeguard otherwise. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguard by emailing [email protected].
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and the data you log for as long as your account is active, so the app can show your history. When you delete your account, we delete the personal data we hold about you from our active systems, and it is removed from routine encrypted backups within 30 days. Diagnostic and crash data is kept for up to 12 months. We may retain limited information for longer where the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights over your personal data:
- Access — get a copy of the data we hold about you. Email [email protected].
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data; most fields you can edit directly in the app.
- Erasure — delete your account and data, in the app under Settings or by emailing us.
- Portability — export your data in a machine-readable form; email us to request it.
- Restriction and objection — ask us to limit or stop certain processing, including processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — for health data and optional integrations (Apple Health, Health Connect) at any time in Settings; this does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
We will respond to any request within one month. We won't charge you or treat you differently for exercising these rights.
If you're in the EEA, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy laws (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA), those rights apply to you in full; the plain-language list above is how we honour them.
Right to complain. If you're in the EEA or UK and believe we've mishandled your data, you can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the EEA, find yours via the European Data Protection Board; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk). We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first — email [email protected].
Children
BiLT is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or, in the EEA, under the digital-consent age set by your country, which is between 13 and 16). If we learn we've collected such data without the required parental consent, we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in-app or by email.

By using BiLT, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
What BiLT is
BiLT is a fitness tracking app for logging resistance training, cardio, nutrition, and related body data. It is a tool, not a coach or a medical service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use BiLT. If you're under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
Your account
You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account. Use a strong sign-in method (Google or Apple) and don't share access to your account with others.
Subscription and billing
BiLT is a paid subscription app. Subscription terms (price, billing period, free trial length) are disclosed at the point of purchase through Apple's App Store or Google's Play Store. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel them through your App Store or Play Store account. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies.
Health and safety disclaimer
BiLT is not medical advice. The app is a tracking and informational tool. Training routines, nutrition targets, and any AI-generated suggestions are not personalized medical, nutritional, or fitness prescriptions. Talk to a qualified professional (doctor, registered dietitian, certified trainer) before starting a new training or nutrition program, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, are recovering from injury, or are taking medication that may interact with exercise or diet.
You exercise at your own risk. BiLT is not responsible for injuries, health outcomes, or other consequences of acting on information in the app.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app
- Use the app to harass, harm, or violate the rights of others
- Attempt to access accounts or data that aren't yours
- Access BiLT's backend, APIs, or AI features by any means other than the BiLT app, including automated scripts or bots
- Circumvent or interfere with authentication, rate limits, or other usage controls
- Use BiLT's AI features to resell access, run a competing service, or as a general-purpose AI gateway
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
Intellectual property
BiLT, the BiLT name, and the BiLT app are the property of the developer. Your training data, photos, and content you create in the app belong to you. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store, sync, and display your content as needed to provide the service.
AI-generated content
Some BiLT features use AI to generate suggestions, analyses, or descriptions. AI output can be wrong. Don't rely on it for medical, financial, or safety decisions. Always verify important information with a qualified source.
Service availability
We aim for high availability but don't guarantee it. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Changes to plans and features
Bilt Fitness reserves the right to modify, limit, or discontinue any subscription plan benefits or app features — including AI-powered features, AI usage limits, and any content included in a plan — at any time without prior notice. This includes adjusting the scope, availability, or frequency of AI features in response to cost, abuse, or infrastructure constraints. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of them.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BiLT is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Termination
You can stop using BiLT and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or use the app in a way that risks harm to others, to us, or to the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in-app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
